Three called meetings for Floyd BoE Monday

Sunday, July 23, 2023–6:51 p.m.

-David Crowder, WRGA News-

The Floyd County Board of Education will hold three called meetings today.

The first meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. and the board will consider personnel changes and conduct the second public hearing regarding the millage rate.

The third and final public hearing will be during a called meeting at 6 p.m.

The board will then vote on a resolution to set the tax rate during the third called meeting at 6:15 p.m.

All three meetings will be held at the Floyd County School System central office on Riverside Parkway.

The school system is looking to lower its millage rate from 17.95 in 2022 to 17.70 in 2023, which would be the lowest it’s been since 2003. However, since property assessments have gone up, it will still be an effective tax increase of 6.92%.
