Woman charged with animal and child cruelty

A 43-year-old Rome woman has been arrested on felony warrants charging her with aggravated cruelty to animals and 1st-degree cruelty to children.

According to the warrants:

Misty Dawn Lopez Malpica abandoned three dogs in a home on East 12th Street without adequate food and water after being evicted.

The dogs were malnourished, according to the warrant.

A fourth dog was found abandoned on the porch, resulting in a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals.

Lopez Malica is also accused of letting a teenager live in the home which was covered in trash and infested with fleas and cockroaches.

Man accused of threatening elderly family member

A 33-year-old Cocoa, Florida man was booked into the Floyd County Jail recently on a felony warrant charging him with exploitation or intimidation of the elderly.

According to the warrant:

James Andrew Lynch used abusive langue over an extended phone call with the victim, threatening to harm her and burn her property down if she did not give him money.

Woman charged with terroristic threats and acts

A Rome woman was recently jailed on a felony charge of terroristic threats and acts.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

59-year-old Mattie May Wilkerson threatened to commit an act of violence against the victim on East 12th Street.

Once at the jail, Wilkerson was found with three glass pipes with cocaine residue in her bra.

She is additionally charged with public drunk and possession of items prohibited for inmates.

Man arrested for prowling, meth possession

A Woodstock man was recently arrested on Charleston Drive off Woods Road on charges of loitering or prowling and possession of methamphetamine.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

54-year-old Steven Waclawski was on the victim’s property without permission and had a weapon concealed behind his leg.

He was found with suspected meth, and a pill bottle containing two Xanax tablets.

Waclawski was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drugs not in the original container.
