Man charged with aggravated assault

A 40-year-old Rome man was arrested on a felony aggravated assault charge following an incident at his Highland Boulevard home late last week.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Johnny Lee Hilliard put his hands around a woman’s throat, causing her to gasp for air.

Hilliard also slapped the victim in the face, resulting in a misdemeanor battery charge.

Dalton teen charged with auto theft in Floyd County

A 19-year-old from Dalton was booked into the Floyd County Jail Friday on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking.

According to the warrant:

Jeremiah Eugene Barry Golden took a Dodge 2500 from a location on Sunflower Place in the Armuchee area on Aug. 27, 2021.

The vehicle was then left in the woods off Turner Road.

Atlanta man accused of stealing vehicle from Rome hotel

A 31-year-old Atlanta man is accused of stealing a vehicle from the parking lot of the Days Inn on Turner McCall Boulevard on Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Demetrius Obtavious Beck took a 2007 Chevy Impala, valued at $7,000, belonging to an Alabama woman.

He is charged with felony theft by taking.

Lindale man facing battery, false imprisonment charges

A 48-year-old Lindale man was arrested recently on charges of battery and false imprisonment.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Kevin Leon Hulsey threw a woman onto the floor of his camper on Old Cedartown Road and then would not let her leave.

Man charged with meth possession

A Rome man was arrested Sunday for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

47-year-old John Lesley Weissmann Jr. was found in possession of meth and a clear pipe with suspected meth residue at a location on Couper Street in North Rome.

Report: Woman found with oxycodone at the jail

A woman initially arrested for shoplifting is facing additional charges after pills, belonging to someone else, were found in her purse.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

62-year-old Kimberly Diane Nasworthy was found with the oxycodone pills in the booking area at the jail.

She was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of items prohibited for inmates.
