Thursday afternoon 911 dispatch received reports of a head-on collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck on Highway 411 South in the area near Chalwood Lane and Jeremy Todd Road (Cave Spring).
Floyd County Police established a roadblock at the Sunoco gas station and the La Cabana restaurant intersection closing both road lanes to traffic for a few hours.
The Floyd County Coroner was called to the scene and Georgia State Patrol troopers advised WRGA that the driver of the pickup truck (a red Ford Ranger) had passed away as a result of the accident.
The identity of the deceased individual has not been released at the time of this preliminary report as the next of kin has not been notified.
