Man charged with theft, elder exploitation
A 34-year-old Silver Creek man has been arrested on charges of theft by taking and exploitation of the elderly.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
Aaron Pete Royal Tidwell received $2,000 in cash from a 69-year-old woman to build a porch, but never returned to do the job, despite having signed a contract.
Motorcyclist accused of fleeing from GSP
A motorcyclist is facing multiple charges including fleeing or attempting to elude, obstruction of officers, and speeding.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Scotty Michael Craig of Lindale was clocked going 75 in a 55-mile-per-hour zone on Highway 27 South and a state trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
Craig initially pulled over but then accelerated and began to flee at a speed of 82 miles per hour.
He then pulled into a parking lot where tossed a bag of marijuana.
Craig did not have a valid motorcycle permit and he was wearing a novelty helmet that did not meet state requirements.
He is also charged with DUI, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, reckless driving, and failure to yield for an emergency vehicle.
Report: Convicted felon had firearms
A Dallas, Georgia man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday on weapons charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
50-year-old Raymond Lee Downs Jr. was being arrested by sheriff’s deputies on outstanding warrants at a home on Old River Road when he was found with two firearms and marijuana.
Downs pulled one of the guns from his pocket and laid it on a table as he was being arrested.
He is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and a probation violation.
