A 50-year-old Rome man has been arrested in connection with an assault that occurred on Alabama Highway back on August 7.
According to the arrest warrant:
Christopher Dewayne Womack struck a man on the left arm multiple times with a blunt metal object, causing visible injuries.
Womack also threatened to kill the victim during the attack.
Floyd County Jail records state that as sheriff’s deputies were trying to take Womack into custody on the warrant Wednesday at the railroad tracks on Alabama Highway, Womack walked away and then held a knife to his own throat.
Womack is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, and misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement.
