A 56-year-old Rome has been indicted on charges that he provided alcohol to a minor, videotaped her in a sex act, and then urged her not to tell her parents about their relationship.
According to Floyd County Superior Court records:
Rodney Lynn Clemones, faces felony charges of sexual exploitation of children, second-degree cruelty to children, and violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.
The indictment filed Friday states that sometime around Aug. 10, 2022, Clemones engaged in a sexual relationship with the minor and told her to keep the relationship secret from her parents.
That relationship included at least one sex act, which Clemones reportedly videotaped with a cellphone.
Once the relationship between the girl came to light, the father of the teen took out a temporary protective order, which was granted by the court after a hearing on Aug. 23, 2022.
At the time of his initial arrest in 2022, Clemones was under a 12-month restraining order after sending nude photos to the minor in May.
Clemones was a longtime youth baseball coach, bail bondsman and former ranking law enforcement officer at the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. Clemones was released from jail on a $5,700 bond with the stipulation that he has no contact with the minor involved and not go to the baseball fields at Riverview Park, according to court records.
