Woman charged in assault with a baseball bat

A Rome woman is accused of attempting to assault an Adairsville woman with a baseball bat at a location on Alabama Highway on Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

60-year-old Maxine Lee Ford went toward the victim with the bat raised above her head.

Ford is charged with aggravated assault.

Woman facing aggravated animal cruelty charges

A Rome woman was arrested at her Todd Street home Friday on four counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

30-year-old Melissa Ann Jordan failed to seek medical attention for four young dogs that had severe skin issues, and parasites.

The dogs’ nails were overgrown and they appeared to be malnourished.

Woman charged with burglary, exploitation of the elderly

A 54-year-old Armuchee woman is accused of burglarizing the home of a 70-year-old woman on August 22.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Candice Marie Camp was seen on security camera images taking a large bag containing various items from the residence.

The victim has reported several pieces of jewelry missing, as well as tools, and sound equipment, valued at a combined $3,700.

Papers with personal and financial information were also missing.

Camp is charged with 1st-degree burglary, theft by taking, and exploitation of the elderly.

She was originally arrested last week on theft and exploitation charges after allegedly stealing a garage door opener from a 91-year-old man, causing the victim to worry that Camp was going to return to rob the home or harm him.

Man facing charges following domestic altercation

A 31-year-old Rome man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges following a domestic altercation on Plymouth Road in Garden Lakes.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Jeffary Lee Akins caused bodily harm to the victim’s face and arms, causing bleeding.

The altercation occurred in front of two juveniles.

Akins also ripped the front door of the home off the hinges and threatened the victim.

He is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, terroristic threats and acts, battery, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, and driving with a suspended license.

Report: Man found with marijuana at the jail

A man initially arrested Saturday for criminal trespass is also facing a felony charge of possession of drugs across the guard line at the Floyd County Jail.

According to jail records:

52-year-old Anthony Stephen Mantock of Rome was on the property of the Riverbend Shopping Center after being banned in January.

Once at the jail, he was found with a small amount of suspected marijuana.

Teen accused of having marijuana at high school football game

A teen was arrested Friday after he was reportedly found with marijuana during a football game at Coosa High School.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

The marijuana was found when 17-year-old Bradley Seth Vaughn emptied his pockets in front of an off-duty police officer, who was working security at the game.

Vaughn is charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and a felony count of possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school.
