Some good eating for a good cause as the Knights of Columbus holds its annual Labor Day BBQ at the Rome Civic Center.
The Knights are preparing roughly 1,000 pounds of pork, 250 pounds of beef, 200 half chickens, 200 half racks of ribs, 500 quarts of Brunswick stew, 175 quarts of baked beans, and for the first time this year, 200 pints of chicken salad.
Onsite dining returns for the first time since before the pandemic and both walk-up and drive-through service will be offered.
The doors and drive-through lane open at Rome Civic Center at 10 a.m. with scheduled pickup times as well between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
All proceeds are returned to our community. The Knights have donated nearly $300,000 to area nonprofits since the barbecue began more than half a century ago.
