-Staff reports-

A two-vehicle wreck involving a motorcycle claimed the life of a Rome man Friday.

According to the Georgia State Patrol:

A Chevy Silverado has stopped at the stop sign on Shannon Road, attempting to cross Highway 53 when it traveled into the path of a Suzuki GSX.

The front of the motorcycle struck the front left fender of the Silverado.

A Georgia State Trooper was leaving an off-duty job and noticed the crash.

The trooper saw the driver of the motorcycle was not responsive and started CPR while utilizing his AED.

The motorcyclist, 26-year-old Jonathan Dunn, was transported to Atrium Floyd Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Charges are pending.

That crash was the second involving a motorcycle on Friday.

The first occurred on Veteran’s Memorial Highway near Rome High School and left one person seriously injured.

Eastbound traffic between Riverside Parkway and New Calhoun Highway had to be rerouted for an extended period of time.

The Rome Police Department is continuing its investigation into that wreck.
