Berry College to host solar eclipse viewing October 14 at the Rome-Floyd County Library

Berry College will host a solar eclipse viewing at 11 a.m. Oct. 14 at the Sara Hightower Regional Library.

The solar eclipse viewing will be led by Berry physics professors Charles Lane and Esha Mishra. The eclipse will begin at 11:41 a.m. and last until 2:43 p.m. From the viewpoint at the library, the moon will cover approximately half of the sun. A solar telescope, operated by a student observatory assistant Madison Pierce, will be set up at the library for guests to view the eclipse. Guests will also be provided with eclipse viewer cards to ensure safe viewing. Viewer cards will be handed out at the event but can also be picked up at the library starting Saturday (Oct. 7).
