WRGA Staff reports –

A fun annual event that raises awareness about a serious problem will again take place in downtown Rome on Friday.
”Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” seeks to shed light on the fact that you can never understand a person’s situation until you’ve walked in their shoes, according to Caroline Groce with Hospitality House
“We’re raising awareness and support,” she said. “We have five guys in the Rome community who are super excited to be fundraising with us. We have about 40 community sponsors, so we’re really excited.”
Check-in is at 11 a.m. Friday, with contests beginning at 11:30 and the walk starting at noon.
“This is our 16th annual walk,” Groce added. “We invite a whole bunch of people to come out and take a walk on Broad Street in women’s shoes.”
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Intimate partner violence impacts 1 in 3 women in the U.S., and 3 out of 4 Americans know a survivor of domestic violence.
