Rome firefighters and Georgia Forestry Commission personnel responded to a woods fire on Mt. Alto Thursday.
The location of the fire was behind Featherston Road, which is off Horseleg Creek Road.
Additional details including the number of acres that were involved is not yet known.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away.
Rome-Floyd County E-911 posted a photo showing the smoke from the 911 center in the joint law enforcement center in downtown Rome.
