Man charged with theft by receiving, obstruction
A stolen firearm lands a 22-year-old Rome man behind bars on a felony charge of theft by receiving stolen property.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Kevin Tyrone Jackson Jr. fled on foot from a traffic stop in North Rome and a K9 was deployed to track him.
A stolen Glock 9mm was found approximately 50 yards from where Jackson was located.
He was additionally charged with misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
Teen accused of battery against a school employee
A teenager has been charged in connection with an incident at Rome High School back on January 4.
According to a Rome Police Department report:
An associate principal saw 17-year-old Trenisha Billovd Green wearing a bonnet, which is against school policy.
When the administrator put her arm out to stop Green and asked her to take the bonnet off, Green pushed the victim’s arm out of the way and forced her way into the school.
The victim had to go to urgent care due to pain caused by the contact.
Green is charged with battery against a teacher or school system personnel.
Two charged with felony possession of marijuana
Two people were arrested early Thursday at Maple Avenue and East 15th Street for felony possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
44-year-old Douglas Wayne Jackson Jr. of Sandersville, Georgia and 40-year-old Lashaunte Anjel Leath of Rome had five individually packaged bags labeled “cannabis.”
The total weight was more than an ounce.
When police told Jackson to exit the vehicle, he reached for an area where a firearm was later located.
He was additionally charged with obstruction of officers, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and a tag light violation.
Man charged with meth possession
A Rome man was arrested early Thursday on Turner McCall Boulevard on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Thomas Michael Haney was found with a clear plastic baggie of suspected methamphetamine in his pocket.
He is charged with possession of meth.
