Report: Man fled from officers, found with stolen goods

A 44-year-old Rome man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from police on Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

An officer attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Randy Wayne Cook for speeding on Alabama Highway.

Cook failed to stop, traveling at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour, weaving through traffic, and passing other vehicles before crashing.

An inventory of the vehicle turned up a safe, a Mickey Mantle baseball card, gift cards, and a class ring valued in excess of $1,500.

Cook used a stolen gift card to purchase alcohol at a local restaurant.

He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, theft by receiving stolen property, financial transaction card fraud, DUI, speeding, and a probation violation.

Man accused of stalking, damaging property

An Adairsville man has been arrested on charges of 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and stalking.

According to Floyd County Jail records: 

33-year-old Gregory Damon Hyde caused more than $500 in damage to the victim’s property.

He also contacted and watched the victim with the intent to harass or intimidate him.

Hyde is additionally charged with concealing the identity of a vehicle; driving a vehicle with suspended, canceled, or revoked registration; driving with a suspended or revoked license; driving without insurance, and a probation violation. 

Man charged with two counts of felony shoplifting

A homeless man was recently arrested on felony warrants charging him with theft by shoplifting.

According to the warrant:

26-year-old Terry Chase Israel stole an Ecoflow power station, valued at $678 from Sam’s Club on Redmond Circle twice.

The first theft occurred on January 27.

The second occurred on January 31.

Teen charged with possession of tools for the commission of a crime, trespassing

 A Rome teen was arrested after he was reportedly seen in someone else’s backyard.

According to Floyd County Jail records: 

19-year-old Carl Stanley Stair Jr. was attempting to take a tire from the yard on East 19th Street.

Stair, who ran when police showed up,  had a ski mask, a multi-tool, and a headlamp. 

He told officers he used to know the person who lived at the residence and they had died.

Stair is charged with theft by taking, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, criminal trespass, theft by taking, and misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
