The Rome City Commission will conduct public hearings regarding several rezoning requests when they meet Monday.
One application is for a zoning change from Light Industrial to Heavy Industrial for 29 Westside Industrial Boulevard.
The existing 110,000-square-foot facility is the future home of Swami Compounding, which manufactures semi-finished natural and synthetic rubber compounds in strips and slab forms.
The commission will also consider three applications related to a townhome development.
29 units are planned on Archer Street.
An annexation request is also involved as well as a rezoning for 1405 East Second Avenue which would serve as the proposed entrance to the development.
Also Monday, the commission will consider a request to close an alley off of East 14th Street.
Commission to consider alcohol penalty
The Rome City Commission will consider a penalty for Garden Lakes Food and Beverage when it meets Monday night.
The Rome Alcohol Control Commission recently held a license hearing for the store at 2022 Redmond Circle regarding drinking inside the store, which has no pouring license.
According to information presented at the license hearing, a code enforcement officer, who was at the business on an unrelated manner, observed people drinking and smoking at the coin-operated amusement machines.
The ACC is recommending the beer package license be suspended for 60 days plus a $2,000 fine.
The city commission will have the final say.
The regular meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
The caucus begins at 5 p.m. in the Sam King Room.
At 5:40 p.m., commissioners will move upstairs to the commission chambers for a special ceremony recognizing Black History Month honorees and trailblazers.
