Body found on railroad tracks in West Rome

The body of a man discovered on the railroad tracks between Old Airport Road and Kirton Street in West Rome Wednesday evening has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

According to Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner John Hamilton at 9:30 p.m.

Proctor said that none of the trains reported striking anyone but the man did have some injuries.

The man has not yet been identified.

He is believed to be a Hispanic male and is believed to be between 25 and 30 years of age.
