Cave Spring man arrested on drug charges

The execution of a search warrant at a home on Cave Spring Road in Cave Spring back on January 31 has resulted in drugs and weapons charges for a 51-year-old man.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Gary Don Holmes had 338.5 grams of methamphetamine, 109.5 grams of marijuana, ten oxycodone pills, digital scales, and a loaded 9mm.

Holmes is charged with drug trafficking, possession of both meth and marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Former inmate accused of trying to smuggle drugs into prison

A man from St. Matthews, South Carolina has been charged in a scheme to smuggle contraband into the Floyd County Prison in January of this year.

According to the arrest warrants:

28-year-old James Dimonique Turner used the prison’s recorded telecommunications system to plan the acquisition and delivery of 20 oxycodone pills, 58 grams of marijuana, 49 grams of methamphetamine, 170 grams of smoking tobacco, and two packs of cigarettes to his work detail at the Floyd County Industrial Park.

The contraband was intercepted by prison investigators.

Turner is charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, use of a communications facility to commit a crime, and possession of items prohibited for inmates.

Traffic stop ends in drug arrest

A traffic stop on Highway 27 South at Booze Mountain Road ends with the arrest of a Carrollton man.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Police stopped a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Brian Keith Willingham for speeding and then found suspected cocaine, marijuana, dextromethorphan, THC wax, a THC gummy, and a grinder.

Willingham is charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana, and controlled substances, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug-related objects, speeding, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Two arrested on meth possession charges

Two Rome men were arrested on methamphetamine possession charges following a traffic stop on Turner McCall Boulevard at East First Street.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

66-year-old Thomas Michael Haney and 32-year-old Ricardo Debrun Hill were found with suspected meth during a search.

Haney was additionally charged with driving without insurance while Hill was additionally charged with possession of drug-related objects for having a glass smoking device. 

Hill was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
