Man charged with aggravated assault, other offenses

A Lindale man was arrested over the weekend on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault.

According to the warrant:

40-year old Christopher Clay Barger Sr. put his hand around a woman’s throat, leaving visible red marks, and causing the victim to be unable to breathe.

The victim also had marks on her hands as a result of the struggle.

Barger also allegedly locked the woman in the residence, took her phone so she could not call 911, and threatened to shoot her between the eyes.

Barger is additionally charged with false imprisonment, terroristic threats and acts, battery, and obstructing a person from making a 911 call.

Warrants: Two attempted to steal $10,000 trailer

Two Rome residents were arrested Sunday at their Morrison Campground Road residence on charges of criminal attempt to commit a felony.

According to the arrest warrants:

46-year-old James John Duncan Jr. and 44-year-old Tera Leann Owens, along with a third individual, attempted to steal a dump trailer valued at $10,000 from the victim’s home on Jim Lee Drive on March 6.

Duncan and Owens are additionally charged with criminal trespass and a probation violation.

Summerville man charged in theft of Buick in Rome

A Summerville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday on charges of theft by taking a motor vehicle, theft by deception, theft by conversion, and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.

According to an arrest warrant and other jail records:

49-year-old Brian Heath Ezell took a 2010 Buick Lacrosse from a location on Old Summerville Road in Rome back on January 1.

He then sold the vehicle for $250.

Ezell, along with other people, also caused over $500 in damage to the victim’s property.

Woman accused of printing fictitious check

A Calhoun woman is facing charges in Floyd County of theft by deception, 4th-degree forgery, and printing, executing, or negotiating fictitious checks.

According to the arrest warrant and jail records:

42-year-old Alexis Nicole Bowers printed a fictitious check for $623.12 and presented it at A1 Food and Beverage on Burnett Ferry Road in Rome back on January 7.

Man charged with meth possession

A Rome man was arrested on drug charges on Kingston Highway Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

During a search related to an arrest for an outstanding warrant, 41-year-old Patrick Russell McMichael was found with methamphetamine and a glass smoking device in his pants pocket.

McMichael is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, and a probation violation.
