Report: Woman punched a police officer
A West Rome woman is facing a felony obstruction charge after she allegedly punched a police officer in the face during a traffic stop on Sherwood Drive at Shorter Avenue Tuesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records;
36-year-old Remika Shuntae Griffin also provided her sister’s driver’s license when asked by the officer for identification.
She is additionally charged with simple battery on a police officer, misdemeanor obstruction, giving a false name or date of birth, fraudulent use of a license, driving without a license, driving with suspended or revoked registration, driving without insurance, failure to appear in court, and a probation violation.
Woman charged with felony theft by deception
A 53-year-old Coosa woman was jailed Tuesday on a felony warrant charging her with theft by deception.
According to the warrant:
Crystal Juanette Owens used a fictitious account to pay for tires and service at a car dealership on New Calhoun Highway back in January.
Warrant: Woman falsely reported stolen vehicle
A 20-year-old Rome woman has been charged with the false report of a crime in connection with an incident on March 12.
According to a misdemeanor warrant:
Maggie Marie Hagerty told police that her 2013 Mercedes had been stolen while it was parked in the 200 block of Broad Street.
Hagerty was seen on video getting into her car and driving south on Broad before turning right onto West First Avenue and then right onto Second Avenue, crossing Broad, and traveling east.
She then returned to the 200 block of Broad on foot and called to report her vehicle had been stolen.
The vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Rome Transit Department on East First Street the next day.
