Calhoun woman charged with fleeing or attempting to elude

A Calhoun woman is accused of driving off during a traffic stop on Highway 27 North at Dugger Drive in Armuchee on Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

46-year-old Melissa Richards was stopped for DUI and had four open containers of alcohol in the passenger compartment.

She then drove off after being told by the officer that she was not free to leave.

Richards is charged with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude in addition to misdemeanor counts of DUI, and open container.

Report: Tractor-trailer crashed into gate during theft attempt

The Rome Police Department is investigating the attempted theft of a tractor-trailer from a location on Watters Street.

According to the incident report:

An unknown suspect tried to break down the chain-link gate of the business by driving the truck into it.

The suspect was unsuccessful and abandoned the flatbed, which had right-side, front-end damage.

The incident occurred on March 16.

Man reports being robbed in West Rome

A man reported to police that he was robbed of $3,500 by four to six juveniles at the intersection of Brookwood Avenue and Dellvue Place on March 17.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

The man told officers that two of the juveniles had guns and they threatened to kill him if he did not give them all his money and his cell phone.

The man said all of the juveniles were wearing sweatsuits.

Bullet goes through bedroom window of home on Branham Avenue

A house on Branham Avenue in South Rome was struck by gunfire on March 17.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

A bullet went through the window of the bedroom of a juvenile.

Luckily, the juvenile, who was in his room, was not injured.

The bullet was located on the floor of the bedroom.

Police found two other bullet holes in the wall near the bedroom window.

Two charged with public indecency

A Rome man and a Silver Creek woman were arrested Thursday on public indecency charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

39-year-old Brandon Michael Lemos and 41-year-old Jill Diane Mahoney were engaged in “lewd caressing and indecent fondling” in the parking lot of Gala Shopping Center on Redmond Circle.

Lemos is also accused of “lewd exposure.”
