Floyd County Commissioners are expected to discuss a moratorium on convenience stores, vape shops, and coin-operated amusement machines when they meet Tuesday.
In February, the Rome City Commission voted to implement a six-month moratorium on new permits for stores that sell vape products and house coin-operated amusement machines. The City of Cave Spring has also adopted a similar moratorium.
Also Tuesday, county commissioners will consider a bid from Rehab Construction Co. for improvements to the Brighton Water Treatment Plant for $982,430, using American Rescue Plan funds. Although not the lowest bid provided, they were the most responsive with the most experience with this type of project.
The commission will also consider a rezoning request for a hobby farm on Manning Lake Road.
The commission meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the County Administration building located at 12 East 4th Avenue.
The caucus begins at 4 p.m.
During the caucus, the commission will hear a presentation from the United Way of Rome and Floyd County.
