Woman charged with theft by deception and theft by conversion
An Idaho woman is back in Floyd County to face felony charges of theft by deception and theft by conversion.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
59-year-old Wendy Marie Ducette got $7,000 for bodywork service on a vehicle in September of last year and obtained a 2017 Lexus SUV, valued at over $10,000, to perform the work, which was never done.
The vehicle was moved out of the body shop and transported to Tennessee without the victim’s authorization.
Ducette refused to return the funds and was caught driving the vehicle when it was supposed to be in the shop.
Two charge with damaging the property of a public utility and theft of services
Two people are accused of stealing electricity from Georgia Power.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
48-year-old Kerry Wade Turner and 33-year-old Destiny Renee Barnes tampered with the meter to their residence on the Pine Village mobile home park on Shorter Avenue by removing the locking seal.
Power to the residence was disconnected on February 22.
The combined value of the past-due bill and the illegally obtained power was $1,573.
Turner and Barnes are charged with theft of services and damaging the property of a public utility.
Woman facing meth possession charges dating back to 2022
A Cedartown woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on a felony warrant charging her with possession of methamphetamine.
According to the warrant:
34-year-old Magan Nicole Knight had a quantity of suspected meth while a passenger in a motor vehicle on June 28, 2022.
The meth was located in the cup holder and was not claimed by any of the occupants of the vehicle.
Knight left the scene of the traffic stop while another passenger was being pursued on foot.
Knight is also charged with being a fugitive from justice.
She is wanted on a warrant out of Cherokee County, Alabama.
