Report: Man with a knife lunges at two people
A 20-year-old Rome man was jailed over the weekend on a felony aggravated assault charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Fredy Vega lunged at two people while he was holding a knife at his Widgeon Way home on Saturday.
Vega is also charged with possession of a fraudulent identification document.
Woman charged with child cruelty
A Rome woman was arrested Saturday at her Park Road residence after she allegedly put a teenager in a chokehold.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
38-year-old Angela Roxann Coots then dragged and threw the youth onto the ground.
She grabbed the teen girl by the hair and punched her multiple times in the head and face.
Coots is charged with felony 1st-degree cruelty to children and a misdemeanor count of battery.
Man charged with criminal trespass, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
A 59-year-old Rome man was arrested at his Calhoun Avenue home Friday on a felony warrant charging him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to the warrant:
Steve Lorenzo Miller had a pistol on March 28 while on the railroad tracks in the area of Stevens Street and Burnett Street in North Rome.
He also allegedly damaged a woman’s fence in the area and refused officers who told him to stop.
Miller also reportedly resisted arrest as he was being served the felony warrant.
He is additionally charged with two misdemeanor counts of obstruction of officers and two counts of criminal trespass.
Man facing burglary charge
A 33-year-old Rome man is accused of entering a woman’s residence on New York Avenue by climbing through the window.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Phillip Dewayne Ward remained in the home throughout the night without the victim’s permission.
He is charged with 1st-degree burglary.
Kentucky man arrested on drug charges
A Turner Station, Kentucky man was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop at East Fourth Avenue and Broad Street Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Jaydon Michael Berry had more than an ounce of marijuana.
He is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute, DUI, possession of drug-related objects, failure to maintain a lane, open container, and failure to yield while turning left.
Man charged with battery, felony marijuana possession
A 20-year-old Rome man is facing multiple charges following his arrest on Saturday at his Buttermilk Road home.
According to Floyd County jail records:
Cameron Malik Lowe punched a woman in the face and was then found with more than an ounce of marijuana, digital scales, and a pistol.
Lowe is charged with battery, felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Rockmart teen arrested in Rome
A Rockmart teen was arrested on Riverbend Drive in Rome on felony counts of possession with the intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
19-year-old Ja’Marion Zytres Lamar Sims was found with two individually packaged bags of marijuana and a handgun.
He was then found with marijuana once at the jail, resulting in an additional charge of possession of drugs by an inmate.
Woman accused of having Adderall at the jail
An Armuchee woman was arrested on drug charges Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Taylor Brooke Parris entered the jail with Adderall pills that were not prescribed to her.
Taylor was initially arrested on Old Dalton Road for operating an unregistered vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
She was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, crossing the guard line at the jail with drugs, and possession of drugs not in the original container.
Man charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
A 32-year-old Rome man was arrested on Perkins Street Friday on a felony count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Timothy Linell Long had access to a Glock .22 in the residence.
