The Floyd County Commission has approved a bid from Pennant Construction for renovations to the former Glenwood school building.
Three companies submitted bids, with Pennant being the lowest.
They were also responsive to the scope of work, according to Floyd County Facilities Manager Ryan Davis during a recent public utilities and transportation committee meeting.
“I don’t have any issues with their quality of work and their history,” he said. “I haven’t done any large projects with them, but our conversations have been real helpful and they have been real willing to work with us.”
The contract is not to exceed $2,447,000.
Negotiations are currently being conducted to establish where savings are possible.
Also Tuesday, the commission awarded a bid for a test paving project on Terhune Road.
Floyd County was awarded a $106,000 rubberized asphalt grant from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division for the project which will use a mix that has a percentage of ground-up tires as part of the aggregate.
Northwest Georgia Paving submitted the low bid in the amount of $146,940.
The County’s portion of the cost is budgeted for in the 2017 SPLOST paving line.
