The Rome Police Department is investigating the reported theft of a door off of a Bobcat mini excavator.
According to the incident report:
The City of Rome Water and Sewer Department had been doing some work in the area of Maple Avenue and had parked the Bobcat at a lot near the overpass last week.
The excavator was locked.
However, when the crew returned to the job site Tuesday morning, it was discovered that someone had unscrewed the hinges and taken the door, valued at $2,500.
