First Reading of the Floyd County School System’s Fiscal Year 2026 Budget is slated for a first reading on Monday.
The budget projects local property taxes at $48,087,922, other local sources at $5,664,890, and state sources at $74,775,598 for $128,528,410 in total revenue.
The projected beginning fund balance on July 1 is budgeted at $49,024,473.
Total expenditures are $129,561,457 and the projected ending fund balance for June 30, 2026 is $47,991,426.
In other action during Monday’s meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at the central office on Riverside Parkway, the school board will vote on a recommendation for the preliminary budget of $7.8 Million for a multipurpose room at Model High School and a field house at Pepperell High School.
The approval for Performance Services Company to solicit bids to complete the two projects is contingent upon the Floyd County BOE Attorney’s approval of the final version of the contract.
Other agenda items include recognition of the STAR Student and STAR Teacher, as well as Valedictorians and Salutatorians, National Merit Winner Sara Grace Abernathy, United Community Bank Scholars, the Athletic Director of the Year, the 4H National Coach of the Year, the Model High School Girls and Armuchee High School Boys Soccer State Champs, the Armuchee High School Girls and Model High Boys Tennis Teams for their appearances in the Final Four, State Track (Armuchee, Coosa, and Model High), and the Pepperell High School Boys Baseball team for their appearance in the State Championship.
