Man charged with burglary
A Rome man was arrested over the holiday weekend after he allegedly burglarized a home on Dellvue Place in West Rome.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
38-year-old Joshua Gilbert Bishop entered the residence, took property belonging to the victim, and destroyed the property on the front porch.
He also damaged a grill belonging to the victim and refused several times to give police his name.
Bishop is charged with 1st-degree burglary, criminal trespass, and obstruction of officers.
Warrant: Man took vehicles for paint jobs, never returned them
A Lithia Springs man has been arrested for stealing motor vehicles from a couple of Rome residents.
According to the arrest warrants:
On August 31, 48-year-old Darrell Dewayne Jonson took a 1969 Chevelle for a paint job.
However, he never returned the vehicle.
Then on October 28, he took a Chevy Monte Carlo for a paint job.
Once again, the vehicle was never returned to the owner.
Johnson is charged with two counts of theft by taking a motor vehicle.
Multiple DUI arrests made Friday night into Saturday morning
The Memorial Day holiday travel period ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, and it was a busy weekend for Georgia State Troopers.
Eleven people were arrested during a GSP enforcement effort on Friday night.
Four were cited for DUI at Riverside Parkway and Riverside Industrial Drive.
Two were arrested on the Armuchee Connector.
Another five were arrested on East Second Avenue at Third Street.
Other charges included child endangerment while DUI, open container, failure to obey a traffic control device, a seatbelt violation
and driving on the wrong side of the road.
One of those arrested is also facing a probation violation.
Most of those arrested were from Rome, but others were from Resaca, Cedartown, Summerville and Covington.
