Felon with firearm accused of fleeing from police
An Armuchee man is accused of fleeing from a traffic stop for a seat belt violation in the area of East 12th Street and Crane Street in Rome.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Cequan Haa’Keen McAlister failed to stop for the blue lights, and then jumped out of his vehicle, causing it to strike a utility pole and almost hit another vehicle head-on.
McAlister, who is a convicted felon, also had a stolen firearm and a small amount of marijuana.
He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, striking a fixed object, six counts of obstruction, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, theft by receiving stolen property, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and a seat belt violation.
Cartersville charged with fleeing or attempting to elude
A Cartersville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday on a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude.
According to jail records:
45-year-old Shane Daniel Porter was under the influence when he failed to stop for police in the area of Turner McCall Boulevard and O’Neill Street.
He fled at speeds of 20 to 30 miles per hour over the speed limit, in the center of the roadway, running a red light and a stop sign.
A trailer hitch was obscuring his license plate, and an open container of alcohol was located in the vehicle.
Porter is additionally charged with DUI, reckless driving, open container, driving without insurance, driving with a suspended license and registration, a brake light violation, a license plate violation, failure to yield for emergency lights, and eight counts of failure to maintain a lane.
Report: Man ran into woods during traffic stop
An Adairsville man was arrested during a traffic stop at Highway 411 and Hillendale Drive on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 42-year-old Brandon Tyree Trimble was stopped for failing to maintain a lane and impeding the flow of traffic.
Trimble got out of the vehicle and ran into the woods.
When he was located, Trimble was found with suspected methamphetamine.
He also admitted to drinking an alcoholic beverage and doing cocaine earlier in the day.
Trimble is additionally charged with possession of meth, DUI, obstruction, and driving while unlicensed.
Man accused of stealing dog house
A Kingston man has been arrested on a misdemeanor warrant charging him with theft by taking.
According to the warrant:
39-year-old Danny Glen Oberry Jr. was caught on video taking a dog house and a cooler from a property on Ireland Drive on August 21.
The combined value of the items was listed at $2,000.
Police were able to identify Oberry from a trespassing incident three days earlier in which he had the same trailer as shown in the video.
He had the same hair as well.
