Floyd County Police have released the report regarding a two-vehicle wreck last week that claimed the life of an Armuchee High School student.
According to the report:
A Chevy Silverado, driven by a 16-year-old male, was traveling east on the bypass and approached the Calhoun Road intersection.
The Chevy had the green light, but did not have a green or yellow turn arrow.
The Chevy failed to yield and turned left into the path of a westbound Dodge Ram pickup, driven by a 56-year-old Armuchee man.
The impact caused the Ram to overturn, landing on its top with its bed coming to rest on the bed of the Silverado.
Both teens were trapped in the Silverado and had to be extricated.
15-year-old David Clemones, who was a front-seat passenger in the Chevy, was transported to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Chevy was also transported for treatment of a broken rib, a broken clavicle, and a fractured vertebrae. He was reported in stable condition.
The driver of the Ram was taken by ambulance to the hospital with less serious injuries.
