Man charged with aggravated assault
A West Rome man was arrested at Walnut Avenue and East 9th Street on Sunday after allegedly shooting at another man.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old John Franklin Fields also ran from police.
He was then found with a 9mm pistol.
Fields is also charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and obstruction of law enforcement officers.
Report: Man violated conditional bond, used someone else’s ID to buy alcohol
A Silver Creek man is facing charges of aggravated identity fraud, aggravated stalking, and obstruction of law enforcement following his arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
42-year-old John L. Harmon violated a conditional bond when he was seen leaving the victim’s residence.
He also used someone else’s ID to purchase alcohol and ran away from the police.
Man charged with aggravated battery
An Atlanta man has been charged in a violent incident on Wayside Road back on January 4.
According to an arrest warrant:
43-year-old Mario Geoffrey Josey punched and kicked a woman repeatedly in the face and legs, and then stomped on her ankle, breaking it.
Josey is charged with battery and aggravated battery.
Man accused of fraudulently obtaining ID
A Garden Lakes man has been arrested on warrants charging him with false statements and writings, and identity fraud.
According to the warrants:
47-year-old Jose Juan Ortiz-Nunez used a false name to obtain an identification card at the Georgia Department of Driver’s Services office on Martha Berry Highway back on November 8, 2018.
The fraud was discovered in March of this year.
Man accused of destroying home camera
An Armuchee man was arrested over the weekend on a felony count of tampering with evidence, and misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass, simple assault, and theft by taking.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
40-year-old Greg Alan Graboski was observed on the victim’s security camera, licking it.
He then took the camera and destroyed it, left three holes in the wall of the residence, and took the victim’s phone.
Graboski then deleted a Wyze phone app used to view the camera in order to prevent his arrest.
Inmate accused of striking jail officer
An inmate is facing charges following an incident at the Floyd County Jail on Friday.
According to jail records:
31-year-old James Matthew Lawrence punched an officer in the chest and put him in a headlock.
He also punched the officer in the face, chipping a tooth.
Lawrence is charged with felony obstruction, battery, simple battery against a law enforcement officer, and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.
Woman charged with cocaine possession
A Kingston woman initially arrested for shoplifting is also facing a felony count of possession of cocaine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
32-year-old Emily Leighann Purdy took a shirt valued at $17.99 from Academy Sports on Shorter Avenue.
She was then found with suspected cocaine.
Man charged with possession of meth
A homeless man was arrested at a location on Shorter Avenue on drug charges on Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
26-year-old Matthew Taylor Hurlebaus is charged with possession of methamphetamine.
