Man facing meth possession charge

An East Rome man is facing a felony possession of methamphetamine charge following his arrest on Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

31-year-old Austin William Martin, of a High Street address, was found with suspected meth in his vehicle.

He stated that he had been using meth for several days.

Martin is also charged with DUI, operation of an unregistered vehicle, and a probation violation.

Warrant: Man falsely reported being hit by a city bus

A Rome man was recently arrested on a misdemeanor warrant charging him with the false report of a crime.

According to the warrant:

34-year-old Antoine Deante Knott told police that he had been struck by a City of Rome Transit bus on Reservoir Street.

The report turned out to be false, according to the warrant.

Inmate accused of exposing himself to a woman

An inmate at the Floyd County Jail is facing a misdemeanor count of public indecency following an incident on Sunday.

According to jail records:

48-year-old Demetrice Jermain Kennedy exposed himself in a lewd manner in the view of a 46-year-old woman.

Kennedy has been in jail since June 8, when he was arrested on charges of terroristic threats and acts, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, and failure to appear in court.
