There are plenty of activities for the kids on Friday in Rome for Halloween.
“Our favorite event at the city is the Downtown Rome Trick-or-Treat, which goes from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.,” said Kristi Kent with the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. “It will be packed, and all of the downtown businesses will have candy for the kids. We will have candy outside of City Hall, and you can just walk all up and down Broad Street.”
There is another trick-or-treat event just around the corner at the joint law enforcement center, according to Mike Bell with the Floyd County Police Department.
“911 helps put together an event every year called Treats not Streets,” he said. “It starts at 3:30 p.m. and goes until 5 p.m. That whole plaza area in front of the law enforcement center downtown will have most of your public safety agencies there, from fire, EMS, and people from the courthouse will be set up. It’s a huge trick-or-treat event. It’s during the daylight, so you are not having to get out at night.”
Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation will also hold its “Trunk or Treat” event at Ridgeferry Park, which will be from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Once all the trick-or-treating is over, it’s movie time.
“You can head over to the Desoto Theater and see the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown movie for free,” Kent said. “That will be followed by the movie Scream, and that is kind of a precursor for the upcoming Rome International Film Festival. Ticket sales from Scream go to benefit the film festival.”
Of course, there will be trick-or-treaters in neighborhoods throughout the community, so drive with a little extra caution on Friday evening.
