Preliminary work for the new Floyd County Agriculture and Exhibition Center off of Three Mile Road is continuing.
Studio 8 Design is the architect for the Ag. Center, and Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord recently gave an update.
“Southern Engineering and Surveying has been hired by Studio 8 to complete the grading package,” he said. “The contours should be completed by December 19, and we expect the design contract for the retaining walls in January with the bid package, including water, sewer, and site work completed by the end of January 2026.”
The site plans include a main event building featuring several large, multi-use spaces which can be combined to accommodate gatherings of over 500 people. The building will also house conference suites, catering-accessible kitchens, and offices for the Agriculture Center, 4-H, and Extension.
Outside the covered arena, outdoor spaces will support a variety of multi-use programs.
Barns designed to house various species will be located in the northeastern corner of the property, each with drive-up access, to support a variety of events. For those traveling to the center for weekend events, RV sites will be available, each with water and power hookups, along with an on-site bathhouse.
The Agricultural Center was budgeted at $8,000,000.00 in the 2017 SPLOST.
