The Floyd County Board of Education approved the purchase of new school bus cameras and accepted the resignation of a teacher during a called meeting on Tuesday.
The board unanimously voted to equip all remaining route buses with the Yancey REI Camera System, which provides enhanced video quality and are GPS ready with optional mapping and integrated video that confirms where and when a child got off the bus with actual video footage.
The cost to equip the 47 buses, which are currently using an older camera system, is $192,935.
The board also unanimously voted to accept the resignation of Coosa High School teacher Anthony Potts, effective November 21.
The board declined to comment on the personnel matter, according to the Rome News-Tribune.
