Man accused of holding a gun to another man’s side
A Silver Creek man is facing a felony aggravated assault charge after a domestic dispute turned violent on Tremont Drive over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
45-year-old Desmond Lanier Stocks put another man in a bear hug, started to fight him, and would not let him go.
Stocks reached under a mattress and pulled out a Springfield .40 handgun, and put it to the victim’s side.
Stocks is additionally charged with simple battery under the state’s Family Violence Act.
Man charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct
A Rome man was arrested after he allegedly shot at two people on Freeman Ferry Road on Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
45-year-old Jason Edward Nance walked toward the victim while armed with a shotgun.
He then intentionally discharged the weapon in the direction of the victim and a witness.
Nance is charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct.
Report: Woman arrested after drugs were found near a deceased man
A Rome woman was arrested on drug charges on Sunday following a call regarding an unresponsive man at her Nixon Avenue home.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
During attempts to revive the man, a strong odor of marijuana was detected, and drug paraphernalia was observed.
A search warrant was obtained, and over an ounce of marijuana was located along with alprazolam, digital scales, and packaging materials.
The drugs were in a backpack near the deceased man.
Suspected cocaine, digital scales, smoking devices, and additional marijuana were also located in the room of 43-year-old Cassandra Langston.
She is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of drug-related objects.
Man charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
A Cedartown man was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude.
According to jail records:
Police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Alton O’Neal Anderson after he made an illegal left turn from Dogwood Drive onto Turner McCall Boulevard.
Once he stopped, Anderson was found to have a firearm and open containers of beer in the vehicle.
He refused to submit to sobriety tests, and it was also discovered that he was a convicted felon.
Anderson is additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, DUI, open container, failure to obey a traffic control device, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and a probation violation.
Report: Man used suspected counterfeit money to pay for goods
Rome Police have charged a Decatur, Georgia, man with a felony count of 1st-degree forgery.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
58-year-old Ricky Lamar Heath paid for merchandise at Family Dollar on North Broad Street using what is believed to be a counterfeit $100 bill.
Man arrested after reportedly refusing to leave jail property
A homeless man who allegedly refused to leave the parking lot at the Floyd County Jail eventually found himself inside the facility after being arrested for criminal trespass.
According to Floyd County Jail records;
Things got worse from there for 56-year-old Jimmy Howell Waters Jr., who was then found with suspected methamphetamine, resulting in additional charges of possession of meth and possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail.
Man pulled over for driving without headlights arrested on drug charges
A Cartersville man was arrested on a felony count of marijuana possession early Monday morning following a search of his vehicle on Redmond Circle at Lavender Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
More than two ounces of marijuana was located inside the vehicle driven by 23-year-old Autavious Trevon Macon.
He was initially stopped for driving without his headlights on.
