Due to the holiday on Monday, the Rome City Commission will hold its final meeting of May on Tuesday.
The commission will conduct public hearings regarding a number of zoning actions, including a change from Light Industrial to Community Commercial for 196 North Avenue, and a rezoning from Duplex Residential to High Density Traditional Residential on Nixon Avenue.
A special use permit for a duplex at 35 Heard Street and an annexation request for 115 East Boundary Street are also slated for a second reading.
Another public hearing will be conducted to get input on a street closing ordinance in Oakdene.
The abutting property owners are petitioning the city to close portions of several streets and an alleyway.
The commission will also consider a request to purchase equipment using RedSpeed speed detection camera funds.
The equipment includes e-bikes.
Just last week, plans for the Rome Bicycle Ambassadors program were announced.
The city commission meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
During the caucus, which begins at 5 p.m., the commission will take a field trip to visit and tour Brother’s Place.
