Floyd County Special Olympics is planning to offer golf as a new sport for special needs athletes.
They are hoping to start in June and will have practice and training once a week during the summer. Eleven sets of golf clubs have been donated.
There will be several different levels to participate in, including individual skills and unified sports team play.
Anyone 8 and over who has an intellectual or developmental disability may participate in Special Olympics.
If you would like to participate or get more information, please email Tammy.bryant@floydcountyga.org
They are also looking for volunteers and coaches to help with the program, and looking for golf equipment.
Items needed are putters, drivers, wedges, balls, tees, and spot markers.
