Friday is the first day of a new school year for students in the Rome City School System.
Be aware of increased traffic in school zones and keep an eye out for school buses.
The Rome Police Department reminds motorists that all vehicles traveling in both directions must stop when a school bus has its signals in operation.
This applies on a two-lane or multi-lane road that is not divided.
If the road is divided by a grass or concrete median, vehicles behind the bus must stop.
Vehicles traveling in the opposite direction can continue to travel but must use caution.
