Counterfeit bills lead to charges of Rome man
A Rome man has been charged with three counts of 2nd-degree forgery after three counterfeit $100 bills were reportedly found under a mattress at his Third Street apartment.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
49-year-old David Paul Gragg also had tools used to print the bogus bills, resulting in an additional charge of possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
Gragg was already in jail on a 1st-degree forgery charge for allegedly using a counterfeit $100 bill at Lumina Coffee Company on Braves Boulevard between January 16 and January 28.
Man facing charges after vehicle strikes a church
A church building sustained damage after being struck by a vehicle Monday.
According to a Rome Police Department report:
The vehicle left the scene after hitting the Holy Lutheran Church on Garden Lakes Boulevard, causing damage to the west side of the building.
A headlight and fender from the vehicle was located on the church property.
Officers attempted to stop a Kia Optima behind Garden Lakes Elementary, but the vehicle fled the scene.
The Kia was later seen turning into a residence on Trentwood Place and the driver got out and ran into the home.
After a few minutes, he came out and said “It was me.”
26-year-old Anthony Lachris Beeman is charged with hit and run, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, DUI, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
