The City of Rome’s proposed fiscal year 2026 budgets are slated for a first reading on Monday.
The general fund is a balanced budget with the use of a fund balance of $3.9 and an increase in operational expenses of around 7.4 percent.

Also on first reading is a downtown sidewalk ordinance.
The commission will consider a slight increase in garbage fees for 2026 and a contract for Armuchee area sewer improvements.
First reading regarding several items from the Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission is also on the agenda, including:
Annexation request for 203 Burnett Ferry Road
Special Use Permit for High-Density Traditional Residential for the property at 1501 Gordon Avenue
Special Use Permit for High-Density Traditional Residential for the property at Branham Avenue
Request to remove condition from the previously rezoned properties at Dodd Blvd and Hwy 411
The commission will meet at 4 pm at Rome City Hall for an executive session to discuss personnel.
The caucus starts at 5 pm and will include a presentation from the Rome Transit Department regarding a feasibility study and the 2026 budget.
The regular meeting starts at 6:30 pm.
