The Floyd County Commission took time on Tuesday to recognize the longtime community service of Jim and Bonnie Moore.
The Moores were recently recognized by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Georgia with its NAMI affiliate Leader recognition.
“The recognition reflects their decades of service through NAMI Rome and the Rome/Floyd County community,” said Floyd County Commission Chair Rhonda Wallace. “Their work has included advocacy for people living with mental illness and their families, as well as local outreach aimed at reducing stigma and helping connect individuals and families with needed support.”

“This was a calling from higher up,” said Bonnie Moore, speaking at Tuesday’s commission meeting. “26 years ago, I would have never thought that we would be where we are now, but how to you tell the Lord no….You don’t. We have done a lot of work in our community, and the commissioners have been right there with us. We thank you for that, because we couldn’t have done it without you. We still have a lot of work to do. We live this every day. We help people, but it’s in our family, and it is in our community.”
