Man charged with aggravated assault, battery
A 77-year-old Rome man was arrested on Sunday at his Margo Trail residence on charges of aggravated assault and battery.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Richard H. Hunt slapped a woman in the face before grabbing her by the neck, holding her down and choking her.
The victim sustained red marks to her neck and hands during the assault.
Man accused of entering home, attacking occupant
A West Rome man was arrested at his Excelsior Street residence over the weekend on a felony warrant charging him with 1st-degree burglary.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
27-year-old Tryance Jamarr Diamond entered the home of a neighbor and attacked the victim, causing injuries to the victim’s hands.
The walls of the home were damaged during the attack.
Diamond is additionally charged with criminal trespass, battery, and a probation violation.
Man accused of making threats
A Silver Creek man is facing two counts of terroristic threats and acts following his arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
39-year-old Robert Avery Garrett threatened to kill a Lindale woman.
He then threatened to kill a police officer.
Man arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance
A West Rome man was arrested over the weekend following a traffic stop on Martha Berry Highway.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 23-year-old Nathaniel Jones Oglesby was stopped for speeding near Berry College.
He was then found with a vape pen containing 89.942% THC and a small amount of marijuana.
Oglesby is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Report: Man resisted arrest
A West Rome man is accused of obstructing law enforcement as they were attempting to arrest him for a violation of Georgia’s Sex Offender Registry law.
According to the arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
35-year-old Trenton Tyrice Williamson failed to notify the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office within 72 hours of moving from Mary Street to a residence on Shorter Avenue.
He then resisted arrest by pulling away from law enforcement officers and fleeing on foot.
Williamson is also facing three counts of misdemeanor obstruction.
Man arrested for possession of meth
A Rome man was arrested on Sunday at the West Rome Walmart on charges of theft by shoplifting and possession of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
60-year-old Robert Gene Greer selected merchandise valued at just over $37 and then removed the tags in order to conceal the items.
Suspected methamphetamine was then located in Greer’s pocket.
Two charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle
A stolen vehicle lands two 17-year-old Rome residents behind bars.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Trenton Barton and Isaiah Eugene Cordle took a vehicle valued at around $5,000 from a home on Noble Street.
Barton and Cordle are charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle.
Barton is also facing a probation violation.
