Man accused of fleeing from police with child in vehicle
A 17-year-old Shannon resident has been arrested on a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by Haven O’Conner Barron-Carter was clocked going 85 in a 65 mile per hour zone on Highway 53.
He then accelerated, weaving in and out of traffic in a reckless manner, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour.
Barron-Carter continued onto Minshew Road, going 72 in a 40-mile-per-hour zone.
He was eventually boxed in by police vehicles.
There was an improperly restrained 2-year-old child and another passenger in the vehicle.
Barron-Carter is additionally charged with reckless conduct, a child safety seat violation, reckless driving, speeding, and obstruction of law enforcement.
Report: Man threatened elderly woman, police
A Rome man is facing multiple charges in a September 22 incident on Village Boulevard.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
22-year-old Dylan Hankins threatened his 82-year-old grandmother with a firearm.
He then refused commands by police to exit the residence and threatened to kill officers if they came inside.
Hankins eventually surrendered after sustaining self-inflicted injuries.
He is charged with terroristic threats and acts, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and obstruction of law enforcement.
Man charged following hunting accident
A man from Jefferson, Georgia, is facing a misdemeanor charge following a hunting accident on Berry Wildlife Management Area property.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
26-year-old Joseph Ethan Reeves shot four hunters by accident on September 5.
He is charged with misuse of a firearm while hunting.
Two charged in school fight
Two students were arrested following a fight at Rome High School on Thursday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Mikell Rashad Mayes and 17-year-old Jeremiah Malik Bradford are both charged with misdemeanor counts of affray and disrupting the operation of a public school.
