The Floyd County Commission will conduct a public hearing for a special use permit for mini-warehouses at 3880 Martha Berry Highway and 3870 Martha Berry Highway when it meets on Tuesday.
The planning commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval with a number of conditions.
The permit will become void if the proposed use is not established within 365 calendar days and if the use ceases to exist for more than 365 calendar days once established.
The use as mini warehouses is limited to the adaptive redevelopment of the existing building, and outdoor storage of any kind, including motorized vehicles and recreational vehicles, is not allowed.
The development plans will be provided, bringing the property into conformity with the ULDC, and any/all exterior lighting will be dark-sky compatible and no more than 20 feet in height.
The commission is also expected to approve appointments to the hospital authority and the Highland Rivers board.
On the consent agenda is an increase of $27,000 to the Facilities Management budget for the Law Enforcement Center due to the Historic Courthouse fire and relocation of the departments in that building to the Law Enforcement Center.
This will be used to cover the increased utility expenses.
Floyd County Commissioners are also expected to vote on a resolution to add Paulding County to the joint Floyd, Bartow, and Polk County Development Authority.
Also, on Tuesday, the commission will give special recognition to Floyd County Tax Commissioner Kevin Payne and Corporal Jordan Taylor with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
A proclamation for Animal Control Officer Week is also on the agenda for the meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at the county administration building on Fourth Avenue.
The caucus will start at 4 p.m. and will include an executive session where the commission will discuss property acquisition, litigation, and/or personnel.
