The public is invited to a special screening of a documentary focusing on PFAS contamination in the South on Monday at the DeSoto Theatre in downtown Rome.
This documentary is part of a sweeping months-long investigative effort, “Forever Stained: The South’s Carpet Empire and the Chemicals that Don’t Go Away,” from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Post and Courier in South Carolina, AL.com in Alabama, FRONTLINE (PBS) and The Associated Press.
The doors open at 5:45 p.m., and the film starts at 6:30 p.m.
Following the screening, attendees are invited to stay for a moderated conversation led by CRBI Executive Director, Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman, with participation by expert investigative reporters from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Brad Schrade and Dylan Jackson, and Dr. Dana Barr of Emory Univeristy’s Rollins School of Public Health.
The group will also highlight the multi-year investigation into what happened with forever chemicals and the ongoing impacts to Northwest Georgia health and water quality.
