Man charged with aggravated assault and battery
A West Rome man has been arrested in connection with an assault on Wilson Avenue in South Rome.
According to Floyd County jail records:
41-year-old Eric Anthony Eugene Blakely put his hand on a woman’s throat, impeding her breathing and blood flow.
The victim is Blakely’s biological sister.
Blakely is charged with aggravated assault and battery.
Woman charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty
A Rome woman was arrested at her Leafmore Road apartment late last week on a felony warrant charging her with aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to the warrant:
59-year-old Edith Rebecca Gaskill subjected a dog to prolonged physical pain.
The dog suffered from dental disease, overgrown toenails, various skin conditions, and a large, painful mass on its ear that made it scream during an examination.
In addition, blood work showed a systemic infection.
Man accused of damaging property, running from police
A 34-year-old Rome man is facing multiple charges following his arrest on Sunday.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
Kendrick Cornez Fain Sr. kicked the front door of an apartment on Lyons Drive, causing $600 in damage on May 11.
He then fought with the police and fled.
He is also accused of hitting the mother of his child in the face on April 22 on Green and Gold Boulevard.
Fain is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, battery, misdemeanor obstruction of officers, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and a probation violation.
Man charged with drug, firearm possession
A Rome man is accused of trying to eat several pills as police were conducting an investigation into a fight on Dean Avenue earlier this month.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
The pills were later identified as oxycodone.
35-year-old Taylor Diaz-Avant was also in possession of a handgun.
He is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and tampering with evidence.
Tennessee woman accused of stealing a side-by-side from Floyd County
A woman from River City, Tennessee, was booked into the Floyd County Jail late last week on a felony warrant charging her with theft by taking a motor vehicle.
According to the warrant:
36-year-old Brandi Lynn Kimbrough took a 2020 Massimo T Boss 410 side by side from a location on Sand Springs Road in Floyd County back on June 15, 2025.
The vehicle is valued at $4,500.
Man accused of damaging vehicle
A South Rome man was arrested in connection with an incident on Sunday on Turner McCall Boulevard.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
29-year-old Charles Frederick Miller repeatedly punched the side of the victim’s vehicle, causing more than $2,000 in damage.
He also struck the vehicle with his vehicle and left the scene.
Miller is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property and striking an unattended vehicle.
Report: Man found with THC during traffic stop
A traffic stop for a tag light violation on Maple Avenue at East 17th Street ended with the arrest of a Lindale man on charges of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and underage possession of alcohol.
According to Floyd County jail records:
18-year old Zachariah Nathaniel Brooks was found with two THC vapes and five unopened boxes of THC oil.
Police also located two alcoholic beverages.
