A Silver Creek man is accused of fleeing from police after damaging three vehicles and an enclosed trailer with a stolen excavator on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
36-year-old Cody Lee Barron took the Caterpillar excavator from private property and then drove it to Mountain View Road, where he caused over $69,000 in damage to the vehicles and trailer.
He then fled from police as they tried to stop his vehicle, before getting out and running on foot.
Barron is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, felony theft by taking, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, simple assault, and four counts of misdemeanor obstruction.
He is also being held for a probation violation.
