Report: Woman struck 75-year-old man over the head with a pipe
A South Rome woman is accused of assaulting an elderly man at her Cotton Avenue residence.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
44-year-old Audrey Denise Watkins hit the 75-year-old victim over the head with a pipe, splitting his head open.
Watkins is charged with aggravated assault and exploitation or intimidation of the elderly.
Woman charged with aggravated assault, child cruelty
A West Rome woman is facing felony charges of aggravated assault and 1st-degree cruelty to children following her arrest on Sunday at her Marshall Lane residence.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
45-year-old Ketia Pascal put her hands around the throat of the victim and squeezed.
She also repeatedly slapped a child and struck the child with a belt.
Pascal then locked the child out of the home, unattended at night, without food, water, shelter, or proper clothing.
Pascal is also charged with 2nd-degree cruelty to children and battery.
Man accused of assaulting woman in front of child
A Coosa man was jailed on Saturday on a felony aggravated assault charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Christopher Rocky Lee Bishop choked a woman to the point where she lost consciousness.
The incident was witnessed by a 7-year-old child.
Bishop is additionally charged with 3rd-degree cruelty to children and a probation violation.
Man accused of strangling girlfriend
A Shannon-area man was arrested at his Clements Road home over the weekend on charges of aggravated assault and 1st-degree cruelty to children.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
46-year-old Jason Michael Mitchell put his hands around his girlfriend’s throat and strangled her to the point where she was unable to breathe back on July 21.
Two children were present during the assault.
Report: Man tries to punch child, hits mother instead
A Silver Creek man is facing child cruelty charges following an incident at his High Point Court residence last week.
According to Floyd County Jail records:,
47-year-old Clifford Tyrone McCluskey attempted to punch a juvenile.
The child’s mother intervened and ended up getting punched in the face instead.
McCluskey is charged with 1st- and 2nd-degree cruelty to children, simple assault, and battery.
Kingston man charged in April incidents
A Kingston man has been arrested on charges of terroristic threats and acts, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and reckless conduct.
According to the arrest warrants.
23-year-old Darrius Eugene Haywood was seen discharging a firearm into the air several times at a location on Hardy Avenue back in April.
He also threatened to kill a woman on the same date.
Haywood is also being held on three felony probation violations.
Woman charged with felony possession of marijuana
A Lawrenceville woman who was stopped for speeding on Highway 140 near Floyd Springs Road is facing a felony drug charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
36-year-old Jaleesa Renee Cartwright was found with 3.2 ounces of marijuana.
Cartwright is charged with possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and speeding.
Man charged with drug possession
A 50-year-old Rome man was arrested on Sunday on two felony counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
Marcus Dewayne Pace was found with synthetic marijuana during a traffic stop on Highway 27 South at Six Mile.
Pace was also arrested on a warrant for a felony probation violation.
Man charged with meth possession
A homeless man was arrested at Heritage Park over the weekend on a felony drug charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
53-year-old David Wesley Braziel has a bag containing suspected methamphetamine.
Braziel is charged with possession of meth and a misdemeanor probation violation.
