Connecticut man charged with grooming, terroristic threats
A man from Norwich, Connecticut, was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Thursday on charges of grooming a minor, obscene internet contact with a child, and terroristic threats and acts.
According to the arrest warrants:
29-year-old Gabriel Reno Lorenzo Grant sent text messages to someone he believed to be a 14-year-old female for the purpose of preparing, persuading, or coercing her into a sexual offense.
He discussed various sex acts, and then made threats to blind, rape, and murder the individual.
The text messages were sent between June 8 and June 11 of this year.
Two accused of stealing from North Rome home
Two Rome residents were arrested on Wednesday at their Berrien Street residence on felony theft by taking charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
52-year-old Larry Pierce Jr. and 43-year-old Christal Lynn Cothran Daniels took around $2,000 of the victim’s belongings from her residence on Calhoun Avenue.
The stolen items included name-brand shoes, purses, and clothing.
Inmate facing charges
An inmate at the Floyd County jail has been charged with unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution, battery against a law enforcement officer, simple battery, and misdemeanor and felony counts of obstruction of officers.
According to jail records:
29-year-old Richard David Whittington Jr. resisted as a deputy was trying to put him in cuffs.
He also spit in the face of another inmate.
Man charged with aggravated stalking
A Rome man arrested earlier this week on a felony aggravated assault charge for allegedly strangling a woman is facing additional charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
23-year-old Dravus Chaise Christian Dupree violated a temporary protective order by contacting the sister of the victim, asking her to pass along a message via his phone.
The victim is the same woman Dupree is accused of assaulting.
He is now charged with felony aggravated stalking.
Student arrested following school fight
A West Rome teen has been charged with disruption of a public school or school bus following an incident on Wednesday at Coosa High School.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Dustin Randall Dickson met a 16-year-old in a restroom on the third floor, where the two got into a fight.
Dickson punched the victim in the head and face several times.
Both teens should not have been on the third floor to begin with.
Dickson is also charged with simple battery.
